I adore Lovecraft and it was time to do Cthulhu. I read The Call of Cthulhu again last night to get into the mood for this painting, but then I was sorry that I'd done so right before bed and I truly, honestly had to call my husband in to come tuck me into bed. Somehow I completely forgot how creepy that story actually was.
